Memorial Day Parade will be on May 21, 2022

Memorial Day

On Sunday, May 21, 2022, the Town of New Ipswich will hold its observance of Memorial Day. As in years past, there will be two parades, morning and afternoon. We would like to encourage all veterans from New Ipswich and surrounding towns to join us in marching (or riding) to help make this a most successful Memorial Day Observance. Come early to enjoy a fresh cup of coffee and pastry at the Pete and Bonny-Jo Aho residence on Goen Road.

The morning parade in Smithville will form by the flagpole at 9:30am, stepping off at 10:00am. The parade will proceed to South Cemetery via Page Hill Road. This year, the Mascenic High School Band and the Mascenic High School Choir will be providing the music for our morning program.

The afternoon parade will for at the Congregational Church at 12:30pm, stepping off at 1:00pm to the music of the Keene American Legion Band and proceed to Center Cemetery. After the observance at the cemetery, the parade will reform and proceed down Main Street to the Soldiers Monument.

Following the ceremony, the parade will reform and proceed to Memorial Field and disband. The Boy Scouts will be serving hot dogs and drinks to the parade participants free of charge following the afternoon parade.

Please take the time this year to join us in this important part of our Town’s life, to remember those fallen and served veteran patriots, who knew and understood the importance of preserving our freedoms.

If you need a ride, call Ollie Niemi, Chairman of the Memorial Day Committee at 603-878-2995.

We also ask that if you have a story of your experience or to honor a family member who has served our country, please send to the Town Administrator or drop off at the Town Office by May 18th at 3:00
