URGENT: BURN BAN IN EFFECT

September 23, 2025

Effective September 22, 2025, a statewide burn ban and Governor’s Proclamation are in place due to severe drought and extreme wildfire risk expected to continue into the fall.

All outdoor burning is prohibited, including campfires and open burning, regardless of any previously issued permits. Seasonal fire permits are suspended until further notice. Violators are subject to fines up to $2,000.

Key Restrictions:

  • Category I fires are banned except in inspected campgrounds with a valid seasonal permit
  • Category II, III, and IV fires are banned statewide on all lands
  • Smoking is prohibited in or near woodlands and public trails

Fire danger is high, and even small fires pose serious risks. Please help protect our town, forests, and each other.
